Did you know January is National Blood Donor Month? It seems that blood supplies are lower during the winter months, especially after the busyness of the holidays, so now is the perfect time to donate, hospitals need it!
I never realized how important it is to give blood, until I needed a life saving transfusion. When I had my son, I ended up loosing a lot of blood because my placenta wouldn’t detach after I delivered him. I guess I lost so much blood that I had no color in my face. I was told I was white as ash. I remember I could hear everything that was going on, but all I could see is white spots. It was a pretty crazy experience and if it weren’t for the blood I was given, there’s a pretty good chance I wouldn’t be here today. So to “pay it forward”, I’m going to be donating blood, something I haven’t done since high school. Will you join me??
I’m making my appointment for January 10th or 17th. If you’re looking for a place close to you to donate, check out a list of locations HERE (click locations on the left).
