My goal was to post 10 questions, with 10 answers on the 10th of every month.  I realize today is the 11th and I missed the 10th (it was on a Sunday).  But since I keep my weekends work free so I can spend time with my husband, it was inevitable that this was going to be posted today instead of the 10th :).

So for those of you who don’t know, I am 27 weeks pregnant with our first!!  We are so excited to meet this little one!  So I figured I would post some questions/answers all about my pregnancy!  I hope you enjoy:

1. Where are you giving birth?
At Home!!  I’m so excited to being giving birth in the comfort of my own home!

2. Why did you decide to do a home birth?
Society has conditioned us that the only safe way to give birth is at the hospital.  But it is perfectly safe to give birth at home when having a normal and healthy pregnancy!  God designed my body to give birth and that’s what it’s going to do!
-I’m glad that I don’t have to deal with the hospital staff coming in every 10 minutes to poke and prod me.
-I’m glad that my midwife’s attention will be solely on me and my baby and not split between other patients.
-I’m glad that I won’t have anything interfering with the natural process that my body is going to go through to give birth (Pictocin, Epidural).
-I’m glad that I’ll be able to feel and listen to my body and be able to move and change positions to what makes me comfortable during labor.
-I’m glad I’ll be able to give birth in the water and my husband will be able to “catch” my son and slowly bring him up to my arms (water births are safe, promise!  Do some research, or You Tube them, they are amazing!).
-I’m glad that I’ll get to labor and take as much time as I need and the baby needs to deliver- no rushing me because the doctor has other things to do.
-I’m glad that when I go in for my prenatal check ups, I get a whole hour with my midwife and take my time and ask all the questions I have (which is a lot since this is my first!).

3. Are you having a boy or girl?
A boy!!  Both me and my husband wanted a boy first, so we’re so happy!  I always wanted my second kid to have a big brother, and I think it’s because I have a big brother and I enjoyed it so much!

4. What are you going to name him?
Asher!  Asher is a biblical name and it means happy and blessed.  I keep telling my husband that Asher is going to be a happy little boy 🙂

5. How far along are you now?
27 weeks, it’s going by so fast.

6. When are you due?
July 13!  Only 8 days before my birthday.

7. What are you looking forward to the most?
I can’t wait to see what Asher is going to look like!  We’re hoping he has my husbands complexion and my blue eyes and lots of hair!  But besides that I can’t wait to see what his personality is going to be like and what his talents are going to be.

8. Can people touch your belly?
If I know you, yes, of course!!  I love touching pregnant women’s belly’s so I have no problem with people touching mine- especially if he’s moving!

9. How many kids do you want?
I’m not sure, we’ll see how the first one goes haha.  But probably 2.

10. Will you be posting pictures of Asher?
YES!!  I’m already thinking of props that I want to use for his newborn session, I can’t wait!
