Yesterday, I had to do one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do in life: say good bye to my little Snickers. Snickers was the best dog ever. When I was in 5th grade I saved up my money and bought her from the pound. I always think pound dogs make the best dogs. She was the shy, quiet one, that liked to hide under things and be in small spaces. I don’t know what it was that drew me to her, but God has a way of working, even if it is something as small as leading me to the right pet. He knew how much joy Snickers would bring to us over the years.
Snickers was sweet and gentle and loved people. In fact, she hated the dog park. When I took her, she would run from the dogs and go greet all the people that were there. She had a kind & tender personality that everyone loved.
Snickers was the one that made my husband like dogs. He never was a dog person before he met Snickers. But with her sweet personality, she turned him into a dog lover. Snickers and I were a package deal when Jon married me. He didn’t get me with out her- and Jon wouldn’t have had it any other way. She was our baby.
It’s crazy how close you can become to an animal. I was looking forward to posting about her in June, on her birthday, but she was just one month shy of her 14th birthday. This past weekend, she had what we think was a stroke and she wasn’t able to recover from it. It left her unable to walk. Letting her go was the hardest decision I had to make, but I know she’s better off.
We love you so much, Snickers! You were such a great dog to us. And we already miss you like crazy.
For some reason my blog won’t let me upload a video. So I uploaded the video of Snickers talking to me and Jon to Facebook. You can go take a look to see my sweet Snickers.
